Occasionally I receive articles from guest authors who are experts in specific areas related to identity theft, digital identity, privacy and data security. Last week, a new movie came out about an identity thief (called Identity Thief - Hollywood is getting *so* creative these days!) that was presented as a comedy, but many privacy experts aren't laughing. Maybe we just take things too seriously. But when your days are filled with the heartbreak that victims face, as well as financial difficulties or even potentially deadly data mix-ups, I have to admit it's pretty sobering.
Mac McMillan, a regular contributor and expert on the subjects of medical identity theft and medical privacy, sent me a note I just had to share with you.
It's always nice to know I'm not the only one out here worried about these sorts of things; I'm not the only one not laughing.

ID theft is definitely not a thing to laugh about. Many of us have been victim to it in one way or another. Hollywood often misses the mark, though, so not surprised!
