Everyone Must Have An Account...

By November 30, 2012

Follow me on:

Alright, it's time for me to say "gimme a break" here.... Not only are employers shoulder surfing our Facebook accounts, but now they are getting suspicious if we decide not to have one. This is rapidly approaching paranoia (and I admit that being an identity theft expert makes you pretty paranoid, so these guys have got to be over the top for me to think *they're* paranoid, right?)

It's a catch-22. Employers are violating personal privacy by getting into our Facebook accounts, then they are deciding we are "suspicious" if we don't have one. The mind boggles with the undercurrent here: it reminds me of the Stepford Wives (the original one) where everyone just toes the party line and smiles.

If I disappear my account from Facebook, my biggest concern (now) is that everyone will decide I'm a crackpot, and stop even listening....
